Sales Representative, Hospitality Industry
Visit Santa Barbara (VSB) is an organization providing a comprehensive visitor’s guide to Santa Barbara, CA.
The Regional Sales Representative will be responsible for promoting Santa Barbara’s south coast to corporate, association and incentives market visitors from the U.S. Mid-west, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
Solicit leads, maintain follow-up contact and respond to incoming business inquiries, while generating hotel bookings, representing VSB at trade shows, client events, sales missions, receptions and escorting on-site tours of Santa Barbara;
Utilize telemarketing, sales calls, direct mail, newsletters, trade shows and client meetings to generate new business, in addition to sales research tools such as Knowland Insight;
Develop relationships with hospitality supplier partners through referrals for hotels, as well as goods and services in support of visits to Santa Barbara;
Build and maintain relationships with 3rd party referral firms, meeting planners and industry partners including local community hospitality partners;
Organize, manage and participate in tradeshows, sales missions and client events to/with individual clients, 3rd parties and meeting planners; coordinate hotel co-op partnerships for proactive client events and trade shows;
Manage arrangements and escort individual clients, 3rd parties and meeting planners to on-site inspection trips and FAM tours of Santa Barbara to familiarize them with hotels, restaurants, attractions and services;
Assist in the development of sales reports, including monthly and quarterly activity summaries;
Utilize CRM system effectively to maintain database and accurately track daily prospecting;
Collaborate and develop relationships with other DMO colleagues to learn market trends, issues and best practices, with potential impacts to the destination;
Meet or exceed established annual sales goals for client contacts, leads generated, site visits, short / long term hotel bookings confirmations.
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field (or equivalent in directly related work experience) preferred;
Demonstrated sales acumen within the hospitality sales, Chamber of Commerce, CVB, or destination management environment, required;
Strong organizational, time management skill and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously successfully;
Astute attention to detail, accuracy and follow-through capabilities, necessary;
Ability to be tactful, courteous and display appropriate public image when representing VSB;
Knowledge and familiarity with Santa Barbara as a destination, necessary;
Strong oral and written communication and proficient customer services skills;
Proficient Microsoft Office skills, together with industry-related software knowledge, required;
Ability to work independently and remotely;
Use of a vehicle, clean driving record and proof of auto insurance, required.
Monthly retainer of $6,500 - $7,000, plus direct expenses.
Chicago, IL; St. Louis, MO, or Minneapolis, MN.
Ability to work from home office, or on the road travelling.
